Water fills up to the brim,
As I light the tiny candle.
Dressed in my best,
I step into the tub.
The water spills over the top,
As I sit holding the candle.
Visions and memories flash through my mind,
As I begin to say my last prayer.
Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray tonight I won’t awake.
Watch over my loved ones,
Let them know that I am free.
As a symbol of my last breath,
I blow out this tiny candle.
Lay me in the cradle of water,
Never to arise again.
I blow out the candle,
And whisper good-bye.
The warm water hugs my body,
Making a comfortable wet coffin.
I close my eyes and sink beneath,
I take a deep breath as the water fills my lungs.
I’m close to the end,
I’m being set free.
